Morning Pick-ups
As a rule, children/parents are requested to be at their respective stops 10 minutes before their regularly scheduled pick-up time.
We understand that on some winter mornings, it might not be advisable to do so.
Unfortunately, the bus will not wait for children beyond the official time.
This is to avoid delaying the pick-up of other students.
Showing up 5 minutes ahead of the scheduled time should be sufficient on cold mornings.
Contingency plan
As we saw last week, Transportation will be provided even on days when the weather is lousy and driving is difficult.
At times, buses will be late due to traffic, may be unable to proceed on certain streets and/or may even be involved in collisions.
As a result, it is possible that a route may not be done, in part or in its entirety.
Please make sure that if you leave your child alone at a bus stop, he/she will be able to return home safely if the bus does not show up.
In addition, children should return home 15 minutes after their scheduled pick-up time on miserably cold mornings.
Please keep the school informed of any changes in the emergency phones you have provided earlier in the year.
SNOW DAYS
Finally, when the weather calls upon us to shutdown the service, it is usually done prior to 6:30 am.
As of 5 am on these days, we are up, discussing road conditions with carriers and speaking with Environment Canada about the impending weather.
Once the decision is made, the following medias are contacted and the appropriate message broadcasted:
